Kisan Swaraj Yatra - petition

the KSY is on a roll. my good friend - ananthu - is on it and is blazing new paths.
check their website. quite action packed and as i am interested in their progress, it is engrossing reading.
sample this prayer in a bhil tribals girls' school in MP.
“Desi beej rakhna hai, gulaami se bachna hai”, “deshi beej bachana hai, kisan ko bachana hai”, “ugaane waale ki jai, khaana banaane wale ki jai”.

massive.

while you are hovering there, take a look at their petition and sign it if it appeals to you and forward it to your networks if it really appeals to you.

I would like them to facilitate decentralization when it comes to farming, find and protect native seed sources, promote local water harvesting, etc. Running to the government to fix regulations is a much longer process, and may not really fix anything. Like in the US when heart disease increased, the committee that investigated this had to change its recommendation from “reduce consumption of meat” with “Choose meats, poultry and fish that will reduce saturated-fat intake.”, which protected the meat industry, and created new industries to test for saturated fat or offer "healthier" alternatives. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/magazine/28nutritionism.t.html

anon - many of them are already doing such stuff in their regular lives.

this yatra is a one-off massive effort on awareness building.

attacks are on along all fronts - individuals, communities, villages, and yatras :-)
