the rapidly increasing demand for english medium education is seeing a supply side increase too.
more english schools are being opened and more parents are rushing to get their children into these schools.
a disaster in the making.
TOI reports on the numbers.
this is a bad trend because:
1. where are the teachers/infrastructure? as per above, there should have been an additional influx of over 1 lakh teachers in 2 years(assuming 1 teacher for 40 students). and we should see this data with the corresponding increases in the number of schools.
2. most importantly, mother tongue instruction should be universally applied in primary school as research shows.
